Since its official opening on 2 August 2009, Cornellà Stadium has consolidated its position as one of the major venues of the professional Spanish football league.

Designed by the architects Mark Fenwick and Esteve Gasulla, it has capacity for 40,500 fans and is categorised by UEFA as a 4-star stadium. It’s made up of two areas – the stands and the ring that surrounds them – and its design is clean and solid, with clear lines and a façade made to look like a floating, translucent curtain in the club’s colours, which is lit up at night.

The stadium is used not just for sporting events but also for conferences, lectures and even advertising shoots.

It’s also worth pointing out that the RCDE Stadium, as it’s also known, is one of the first football grounds in Europe to use clean energy. Massive energy savings are made by using solar energy to reduce water and electricity consumption, which is why there are photovoltaic panels on the roof.

Another unusual feature is the Memorial Space that was opened in 2008, a cemetery in one of the corners of the stadium that can be used by any die-hard fans as a final resting place.

Not far from the stadium is the SPLAU shopping centre, where you can spend hours and hours sampling the cuisine, shopping, going to the cinema or enjoying any of the other amenities it has to offer.

There’s no better option for getting a parking space nearby than to use our Saba public car park on Plaza de Lluís Companys. It is wheelchair-accessible and has permanent CCTV.
