Parking in Castellar del Vallés City Hall - Castellar del Valles

Since 1994, the Tolrà mansion has been the seat of Castellar del Vallès Town Council, although during the Spanish Civil War it was used as the seat of the municipal board and later as a children’s home (1968-1986) and as a secondary school (1987-1993).

The architect, Emilio Sala i Cortés, designed it on three floors and Neoclassical symmetry. The façade is divided into five sections. The middle section juts out slightly from the other four and has a curved pediment on top.

Inside, the building includes a room currently used for plenary council sessions. The building is also adorned with paintings by well-known Catalan artists such as Raimon Roca, Alfons Gubern and Lluís Valls Areny. All of the windows are architraved and decorated with small floral motifs, while the shutters are painted green to match the surrounding landscape.

In front of the building there is a romantic garden with an octagonal wooden gazebo, a fountain, plants and a wonderful cast iron pergola. Another unusual feature are the benches designed in the Catalan Modernist style, all for public use and ideal for sitting down to read, rest or even enjoy some refreshment.
