La Rambla, or Las Ramblas, is a wide avenue that runs alongside the neighbourhood of El Raval in the district of Ciutat Vella, the oldest part of the city. It is one of Barcelona’s most emblematic avenues and it connects Plaza Catalunya with the city’s old port, known as Port Vell.

Las Ramblas is, without a doubt, one of the city’s busiest streets, not only because of its location, at the heart of the most touristic area, but also because it is lined with numerous flower stalls, cafés and shops.

This avenue has different names for each section of it: Rambla de les Flors (flowers), Rambla de Sant Josep (because of the Sant Josep market), Rambla dels Caputxins, Rambla del Centre and Rambla de Canaletes, among others.

If you want to get an insight into the real Barcelona, you should take a long walk around the city centre and wander down Las Ramblas. On your way, you’ll pass the Liceu, one of Barcelona’s most important theatres and opera houses, the Boqueria market (the largest in Catalonia) and several other iconic cultural landmarks.

Close by, you’ll find Barcelona’s Gothic cathedral, the city’s Contemporary Art Museum (MACBA) and its Centre of Contemporary Culture (CCCB).

A top tip for getting the most out of this area is to simply lose yourself in its streets and alleyways. That’s the only way you’ll stumble upon the city’s hidden treasures: little squares, traditional old cafés and wonderful architecture.

To get around the area easily, you can park your vehicle in one of our Saba car parks. There are many all over the city, especially near Barcelona’s main cultural sights. These public car parks are accessible 24 hours a day.
